Alternative Asset Classes

Income Strategies (Canadian or US) — A broadly diversified portfolio of income oriented securities designed to deliver high levels of current income while maintaining stability of capital. The investment process is conservatively oriented designed to deliver a stable and growing level of income while attempting to maintain the purchasing power of monies invested. The portfolio typically holds 30-50 securities.

High Yield Bonds — A conservatively managed portfolio focused on higher yielding fixed income securities. The investment objective of the portfolio is to provide investors with long-term total return through a diversified portfolio of securities generating higher levels of current income with some potential for capital appreciation. The investment team utilizes a rigorous credit analysis process to identify the most stable high yield bonds, structured credit instruments and preferred shares.

Market Neutral Strategies — A broadly diversified portfolio of market neutral strategies providing additional diversification and risk reduction. Containing many different strategies, the allocations are altered based on readings from proprietary investment models that indicate which strategies are favoured based on current market conditions.

Private Equity — Equity investments in private and public companies across various industries. When evaluating potential investment candidates we look for companies with proven management, significant growth potential and strong market positions. We then partner with those companies and provide assistance with strategic, financial and operational issues.

Infrastructure — A portfolio of Canadian energy and traditional infrastructure investments. Traditional infrastructure assets may include both civil infrastructure (roads, bridges) and social infrastructure (schools, hospitals). Energy assets may include power generation (hydro, wind, solar), power transmission and conservation.

Real Estate — A portfolio of high-quality, well-located commercial real estate that includes office, retail and industrial properties. Using a fundamental "core-plus" approach, we seek properties with sustainable income and strong long-term growth potential.
