PCJ Investment Counsel

PCJ Investment Counsel was formed in August 1996 to provide specialty Canadian equity management to pension fund sponsors, corporations and mutual funds. The firm is a partnership between its investment managers and Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group. The two senior investment professionals, Nereo Piticco and Jack Campbell, have worked together since 1993 and were joined by Heiki Altosaar in 1995. Aly Alladina joined the firm in 2000 followed by Bryan Rock in 2006 and Adam Posman in 2011.

Investment Philosophy

PCJ employs an active approach that blends an initial top-down perspective with bottom-up fundamental research focusing on stock selection and trading.

The investment management process begins with an evaluation of global economic conditions, with the objective of determining which areas of the market are poised to deliver the strongest medium-term performance. Securities are then selected on the basis of relative value within each sector, with a focus on growth characteristics such as earnings momentum, ROE and EPS revision. The portfolio can be characterized as having a large capitalization bias concentrated in a limited number of highly liquid holdings.
